Fairy tree table lamp // Accessories holder

Hello crafters!

I'm back! *wipes tears

FAIRY LIGHTS! Raise both your hands if you hate fairy lights. SEE! I knew you love fairy lights too.  *jokes :P

Well, have you ever face this problem when you were just about to snuggle in bed with your favorite music & your favorite cup of tea/hot cocoa, the BRIGHT WHITE light in your room just kills the mood?

This fairy light will definitely level up the atmosphere, making it cosy and no other word but......cosy.

Here's how I did it!

Materials needed:

Tree Branch of your choice (preferably 40-50cm): By the road *literally *laughs (FOC)
* Tips: Thicker and dried tree branches are stronger to hold on weight
Mason Jar (15cm depth): DAISO (RM5)
Wood Sandpaper: Any local hardware shop (RM0.80)
White Spray Paint: Mr.DIY (RM7)
Glitter (White): Typo (RM5 *on sale)
Uhu Glue / multipurpose glue

And of course.......

Fairy Lights: Mr.DIY (RM 6.90)

Step 1:

Use a wood sandpaper to sand the tree branch for a smoother finish.
But if you're opting for a much more rustic finish, go ahead and skip this step :)

Step 2:

And of course, not all tree branches selected are perfect. Mine has quite a few unnecessary branches at the bottom. So I simply pluck them off.

Step 3:

Don't waste them! I glued them onto the top parts of the branch to make it look fuller at the the top which looks more like a tree.

Hold them in place for a minute or two till its completely dry.

Step 4:

The best part! Spray the branches entirely with a newspaper at the bottom to prevent staining the floor.
You will need to follow your spray paint instructions (as stated on the can) too before proceeding this part
*Tips: Do this outdoor. You won't want your house to stink. :P

Step 5:

After the paint is dry, apply some glue onto the branches then sprinkle a generous amount of glitters.

Step 6:

Place the branch onto the Mason Jar followed by the fairy lights starting from the end until the jar is half filled.

Step 7:

Hang the remaining onto the branches at random.

Try to hang them equally on all sides as it might topple due to imbalance weight.

DONE!

How about making it more practical? ;)

Step 8 (Additional):

I used it as an accessory holder to place all my necklaces.

Customize them in different colors and sizes too!

Bling it on! ||Paper feather bookmark for the bookworms||

Hello crafters!

Are you a bookworm? Do you have friends that loves reading? storybook, cookbook, comic, or even lecture notes! :P

I love feathers. It's so light and gentle. But.....but it's way too flimsy for me to hold on (I admit i'm not gentle with things like these ok!) :(  So, I've researched up and down for an alternative for these feathers that is not as flimsy as the real ones. Then, I stumbled upon a whole stack of papers in my drawer and tried it out.

It turned out GREAT!

Here's how I did it!

Materials needed:

Black regular A4 paper (80g) : Popular Bookstore (RM 2.90 per pack of 30's)
White cotton thread : DAISO (RM 5.30 per roll)
Gold glitter dust : Mr.DIY (RM0.90)
Feather Template
Double sided tape
Regular liquid glue
Scissors
Pen

Step 1:

Draw / print a template of your choice on an A4 sized paper.
There are million kinds of feather templates available online. If you're bad in drawing (like me :P), print them! Nobody would know aite! :P

I've got mine from one of my FAVORITE and well known diy-er, lia griffith. Check her out for more amazing paper diy too!

Step 2:

Trace 2 sets of the same feather template onto the black color paper.

If you use a black paper like I did, try using a different colored pen for a much visible outline.

Step 3:

Snip it off! (be extra careful with the edges, you don't wanna have a retarded feather. :P)

Step 4:

Apply glue onto one side of one of the paper feather.

Step 5:

Place the thread onto the middle of the paper feather (acts as the feather quill).

Step 6:

Sandwich it with the second paper feather (gently press it to ensure it is secured).

Step 7:

Snip off the thread, leaving approximately 10 cm attached onto the paper feather.

HERE'S THE FUN PART!
Worried that the gold dust might get a little messy??

Place a piece of paper that is fold into half underneath your work place.

Use a double sided tape instead of a liquid glue to prevent sticky hands and messy table.

Step 8:

Tape it onto the 1/3 bottom of the paper feather and trim off the excess tape according to the outline.

Step 9:

Shower the double taped are with the gold glitter dust (ensure all parts are covered).

Dust off the excess gold glitter dust onto the paper underneath.
Fold the paper onto a shape of a funnel and pour it back into the container.

DONE!

Customize them in different colors and shapes too!

Nailing it! || Nail String art ||

Hello crafters!

Crafting has always been my hobby since I was 16. Every now and then, I'll scroll through Pinterest and Google to garner inspirations. I love giving, but I hate spending so much on gifts. So, I started making stuffs myself as a gift to my friends and family. They LOOOVED it! Having a thought, why not share them with everyone? And here I am, my very first DIY blog. Hope it helps to inspire you too! :)

Let's get started!!!

Lately, I've been eyeing on some really cool pieces of string art on pinterest as well as in-stores. And as cool as they were, I just can't get over my kiamsiap-ness (stinginess) on spending RM 120 on them. So, I got my ass up and recreated it myself in less than RM 15! No word could describe how good it feels!

Scroll on to check out how I nailed it! ;)

Materials needed:

MDF (Medium Density Fiberboard) 11.81 x 7.87 x 0.24 inch : DAISO (RM 5)
White cotton thread 1 roll : DAISO (RM 5)
Regular framing nails 1 inch : Ace Hardware Store (RM 1)
Screw Eye Nail A56 : Ace Hardware Store (RM 1.60)
Permanent Marker & paper / Printed template
Scissors
Hammer

Step 1:

Draw / print a template of your choice on an A4 sized paper.

I'll be giving this out as a gift to one of my friend hence I customized her initials onto it. So, be creative! Customize your own template! But if you don't want to hassle, Mr. Google is here to solve them all! ;)

Step 2 :

Place your template on the MDF board, ensure it is in place.
Secure it with a tape (optional).

Step 3 :

Nail the edges and interactions of the pattern on the MDF board.
Secure it by ensuring it's 1/4 nailed into the board.

Step 4 :

Grab your scissors and cut off the A4 template.

SNIP SNIP SNIP!

Step 5 :

Tie a double knot around one of the nails to secure in place.

Step 6 :

Start wrapping the string back and forth around the nails. The best part here is there is no right or wrong way to do this. Just have fun wrapping away!

Step 7 :

Once you're satisfied with the wrapping, double knot at the last nail.
Snip of the excess thread.

Step 8 :

Nail the Screw Eye Nail at the top of the MDF board.

DONE!

GO WILD and try out different designs!

Hang it wherever you want!
